Compensation

  • $100/ week stipend

  • Included housing for 20-22 weeks; or other agreed upon duration of Internship (within walking distance to the theater)

  • Complimentary tickets (9) to all 2024 Lakewood productions

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the care, management, and organization of finished costumes.

  • Assist in preparation of all wardrobe facilities and operations.

  • Supervise and participate in wardrobe operations for assigned productions.

  • Participate in end-of-production strike, including laundry, dry cleaning, rental returns, and restocking.

  • Attend fittings as necessary.

  • Complete alterations of pulled/ purchased costume pieces.

  • Assist in the production of new costumes and refurbishment and alteration of existing costumes.

  • Pattern layout and fabric cutting according to instructions from the LCS Supervisor.

  • Assist the LCS Supervisor and Production Director in the construction, fitting, and alteration of costume crafts, including but not limited to armor, masks, footwear, headwear, belts, bags, and jewelry.

  • Develop and fabricate craft pieces according to designer/ supervisor instructions.

  • Perform cutting, construction, finishing, and alterations to assigned items.

  • Demonstrate and apply traditional and contemporary makeup techniques.

  • Assist with changeovers, presets, and wig and makeup maintenance.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a sewing machine.

  • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks including but not limited to climbing, stooping, pushing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and pulling.

  • Use of manual dexterity in the operation of tools.

  • Working in a variety of environments.

  • Work environment may be dirty, noisy, in low-light, or in a tight and cramped space.

  • Will be exposed, at times, to potentially hazardous materials and equipment.

  • Experience preferred in costuming/ wardrobe or currently carrying out course work in the area of technical theater or similar.

  • General understanding and appreciation for the performing arts in our community.

  • This position requires some availability for working shifts during nights and weekends.
