TEENS, TECH & TOUR
This is the 1950's rock 'n' roll musical. Rydell High's spirited class of '59--gum-chewing, hubcap stealing, hot-rod loving boys with D.A.'s and their wise-cracking girls in bobby sox and pedal pushers--capture the look and sound of the 1950's in a rollicking musical. while hip Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski resolve the problems of their mutual attraction, the gang sings and dances its way through such nostalgic scenes as the pajama party, the prom, the burger palace, and the drive-in-movie.
Beginning Monday June 30, twenty five students interested in technical aspects of theater will be accepted to participate in an exciting adventure at Lakewood Theater Young Performers Camp. This year we are offering students with theater experience an opportunity to learn what happens backstage with a hands-on technical experience.
Every Tech & Tour student will be instructed in all aspects of onstage and backstage work: reading scripts, developing props lists, costume plots, set design. model construction, and stage managing duties, budgets and operation of equipment that is allowed by law for their ages.
After performing on our main stage July 12 at 10 am, these campers will begin the tour portion of their session on Monday July 14, when they will be "taking it on the road." That is to say travel with their production to area elder care facilities to perform an abbreviated version of Grease during the week of July 14-18, campers will travel to points north, west, south and east of Lakewood Theater for two performances a day. They will return to do an encore performance at Lakewood on July 19.
